Dave Berry - Chairman:  Until April 2005 Dave was appointed under Royal Warrent as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Fire Services. In this role he was primarily responsible for the provision of verbal, written and published advice, initially to the Home Office and then subsequently to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, other government department’s officials, and the fire and rescue service, on matters related to fire safety standards in building design and fire safety engineering.

Garry HarneyGarry Harney: Garry joined Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service in 1975, and throughout his career served within the Brigade from Fire-fighter to Area Commander (Fire Safety) and also at a national level on behalf of the Chief Fire Officers’ Association (CFOA) and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) in a number of key roles. Since establishing FARMSS he has been involved in a number of significant Fire and Rescue Service related projects on behalf of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Dave LewisDave Lewis: David served with Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service for some 28 years and throughout this time he has gained a wide range of experience whilst working within a number of core disciplines including fire ground operations, fire safety, project team working, fire risk assessments, head of press and public relations. Prior to retiring in March 2006 David had strategic responsibility for five departments at county wide level including Community Safety, Crime & Disorder, Statistics, Arson Reduction & Fire Investigation. David has been directly involved in IRMP within his areas of responsibility with an emphasis on prevention and protection. Formally he also had strategic responsibility for the Water and Publicity departments. David has a wide range and depth of experience in conducting research projects.
